Big Bench was named on February 2, 2020, by one of the initial groups that explored the original trails. At this site stood a 20+ year old bench that overlooked the Alafia River — a perfect resting spot with a beautiful view.
This bench has since been rebuilt and renamed Bench #6. It is one of 14 benches located throughout the trail system, each offering a place to pause, rest, and take in the natural surroundings.
Bench #6 overlooks the Alafia River and remains one of the most scenic resting spots on the entire trail system. Take a moment to sit and watch the water — you may spot herons, turtles, or other wildlife along the bank.

The volunteer crew that rebuilt Bench #6. The Alafia River is visible just behind them — the same view every hiker gets when they stop to rest here.
